Team Building Skills
In order to operate successfully, the team must possess good team building skills. Being a member of a team from recreation soccer in elementary school to the Emerging Leaders Academy at the University of Mary, I attribute many of my skills and success to being a member of a team. The current education system stresses collaboration, but it is difficult for educators to execute this well. During my professional mentorship, I had the opportunity to see multiple examples of collaboration and project-based learning between the classroom teachers and the library media specialist. As a leader, I strive to be self-aware, know my team members, clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations, give feedback, acknowledge and reward performance, always celebrate success, and know each person's strengths and weaknesses. It is only with these skills that my team can succeed.
